# step0 Migration Notice

## Pre-migration Notice

**System**

- Use the appropriate method to back up data, such as VMware snapshots, Windows restore points, etc.
- It is recommended to turn off antivirus software to avoid affecting the startup of the migration agent

**Network**

The source machine does not need to open any inbound ports, but it needs to be able to access the USMC management service address



## Migration-in-progress Notice

- The migration process agent will occupy some resources of the source machine, such as CPU/Memory/Disk IO/Bandwidth, please be aware
- Any operations on the transfer machine usmc-stopover-do-not-delete are prohibited, such as shutdown/reinstallation/change password/unbind EIP, etc.
- During Windows system migration, please do not close the cmd window that appears after launching go2ucloud.bat, keep it open until the migration is completed
- USMC migration supports breakpoint resume, but there is no need, do not restart the agent on Linux or Windows end to prevent accidents
- When an error occurs during migration, enter the usmc-xxx directory in Linux, or directly in the opened cmd window in Windows, cat usmc_agent_log.txt and provide it to the technical support

## Post-migration Notice

- Linux migration is based on file synchronization, Windows migration is based on block synchronization, users are responsible for verifying data consistency
- USMC is only responsible for pulling up the system/network on the destination side, the impact on users' own business is hard to estimate, please fully test before putting it into a production environment.
